Backups & Recovery

Protect your Ghostline identity with secure backup and recovery methods.

Ghostline uses account abstraction-style recovery:

  • Guardian devices

  • Passkeys

  • Cloud Key Share (encrypted with your passkey)

  • Optional encrypted backup phrase (advanced)

  • Social recovery (coming later)

You never need to back up a mnemonic.

Losing access means losing everything. Proper backups are essential.

Hardware Key Backup

Use a hardware security key for backup and recovery.

Supported keys:

  • YubiKey
  • SoloKey
  • NitroKey

Setup:

  1. Connect your hardware key
  2. Go to Settings > Security > Hardware Keys
  3. Register key as backup device
  4. Test recovery process

  • Optional: Self-hosted storage

Standard Recovery

  1. Open Ghostline app
  2. Tap Recover Account
  3. Enter recovery phrase or use social recovery
  4. Verify
  5. Restore

Secure Storage

  • Use physical storage for recovery
  • Encrypt digital backups
  • Never store in plain text
